Nissan has announced that it has launched a subscription service for its customers that enables them to drive an EV without having to commit to buying the vehicle.
The services from the motor manufacturing giant gives subscribers the opportunity to drive one of the company’s models for periods ranging from 3 to 24 months. Customers can switch vehicles during the length of their subscription contract. ‘Nissan Subscription', as the service is called, covers the cost of the vehicle, insurance for up to five drivers, road tax, servicing and roadside assistance.
Among the cars available are the fully electric Nissan Leaf 39kWh Tekna or Nissan Ariya 87kWh Evolve, or the mild hybrid, Nissan Qashqai e-Power N-Connecta. Prices start from £645 month on a 24-month subscription.
“We’re really excited about Nissan Subscription as it will appeal to a completely different type of customer for us and bring a whole new audience to our brand,” said Andrew Humberstone, managing director at Nissan GB. “There’s a new generation of motorist coming through that is looking for an entirely digital purchase experience, likes the idea of swapping their car from time to time to suit different needs, and wants to avoid the hassle of motoring admin”, said Humberstone.
“Nissan Subscription is perfect for them: one simple monthly payment and they’ve got everything covered.”
The subscription process is completed online, with the vehicle delivered to the customer on the date and time they have chosen. 800 miles of usage is included in the price.
Nissan’s subscription service follows that launched by Renault for its Megane E-Tech, which includes servicing, insurance, road tax, breakdown cover and congestion charges.
