Kwik Fit data reveals which car models burn through tyres

New Kwik Fit data reveals that the vehicle that is most likely to wear tyres quickly is the Tesla Model 3.

Over two million motorists head to Kwik Fit centres every year, including owners of electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids, petrol and diesel vehicles.

Using their extensive data set, Kwik Fit analysts investigated which models were more likely to be brought in for tyre changes across the UK and indexed them accordingly. In their Maintenance Index 2025, Kwik Fit ranked the vehicles according to the number of locations in which they were most likely to require tyre repairs.

Topping the list is the Tesla Model 3, which is the most likely vehicle to need tyre repairs in 54 locations. This is followed by the Citroën Berlingo and the Telsa Model Y, which are the models most prone to tyre issues in 24 and 16 locations, respectively.

1: Tesla Model 3 – 54 locations

2: Citroën Berlingo – 24 locations

3: Telsa Model Y – 16 locations

4. Mercedes CLA – 9 locations

5. Volvo XC40 – 7 locations

6. BMW 4 series – 7 locations

8. Jaguar XE – 4 locations

9: Kia Niro – 3 locations

10. Skoda Karoq – 3 locations

When all the models from each manufacturer are combined, the companies that topped the list for tyre changes across most areas included Tesla, Citroën, BMW, Mercedes and Volvo.

Communications director at Kwik Fit, Roger Griggs, said: “We have more than 600 Kwik Fit centres across the country and see more than two million of the UK’s cars each year, covering EVs and hybrids as well as petrol and diesel models. As a result, we have a huge sample of data on tyre changes and other repairs on every make and model for our expert team to analyse.”

He continued: “Drivers neglect tyre care  at their peril. It’s always vital to remember that regardless of all the other safety features on a car, they all rely on the tyres performing as expected.”
