New research from YouGov finds that one in five fleet companies have no fixed plans to reduce emissions.
Commissioned by fleet management company Gofor, YouGov surveyed 1000 senior HR decision-makers to uncover their plans for tackling carbon emissions. The research is just one part of a wider ESG white paper Gofor is creating to support small and medium-sized businesses.
Of those surveyed, 21% of respondents said they had no plans to reduce emissions or were unsure, while 11% of respondents were considering fleet decarbonisation in more than 12 months.
On the topic, the managing director at Gofor, Iain Bennett said “We’re hearing that a lot of companies want to reduce their fleet carbon emissions but are unsure where to start.”
The survey also found a promising 49% of respondents were already working to reduce their fleet emissions. On top of that, a further 19% of businesses were planning to begin emissions-reducing initiatives within the next 12 months.
When asked about the electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, which can be used by businesses to support fleet decarbonisation, just one in five businesses were using it. A further one in five had plans to utilize the scheme, while the rest of the respondents had a mixed awareness of it.
Bennett said “We’ve been surprised by just how many companies still need to formalise a fleet electrification plan and are yet to take up EV salary sacrifice.”
He continued “These findings will help organisations focus on the environmental opportunity presented by their company fleets and we can help them to realise this opportunity as part of a more advanced ESG plan.”
